In view of upcoming 6th National Voters Day on January 25, 2016, District Development Commissioner, Kathua Ramesh Kumar convened a meeting of officers to discuss the preparedness here at Kathua. As per requirement of the National Voters Day, a threadbare discussion was held in the meeting for the smooth conduct of Event.DDC directed the Sub Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars and Block Development Officers to convene meetings with panchs, sarpanchs, chowkidar, lambardars, ASHA & Angadwadi workers of all the panchayats along with booth level officers to mark the Voters Day by organizing rallies, symposium and distribution of EPIC of the newly registered voters at panchayats and booth level.

DDC impressed upon the officers the need to adopt innovative means to sensitize the masses about their right to vote and its importance in the election process.The CEO Kathua and Principal ,GDC Kathua was directed to involve school/college students in creating awareness regarding the importance of right to franchise with a pledge for using their voting right besides continuous updation of electoral rolls i.e. addition/deletion was also stressed.It was informed in the meeting that a marathon will be organized on January 24 and DYYSO will coordinate for mass participation in  this event.“All the departments will display their flagship programmes on the marathon route for creating mass awareness,” DDC added.At district level symposium, rallies, cultural and nukkad skits will be organized to mark the celebration of National Voters Day.

DDC gave instructions to ERO`s, AERO`s and BDO`s to organize similar functions at sub division , tehsil , block levels.ERO`s were further directed to distribute EPIC cards to the newly enrolled voters. Directions were passed to PO , ICDS , CMO and Tehsildars to make their CDPO`s , ASHA , anganwadi workers , available at block and panchayat level functions and BLO`s to remain available at their polling stations along with electoral rolls on the national voters day.Later, DDC convened a meeting of officers to discuss the arrangements for Republic Day celebrations 2016.It was informed during the meeting that the day will start with playing of Shehnai vadan in the wee hours and the National Flag will be unfurled by the VIP at 10 a.m. The contingents from CRPF, District Police, Forest Protection Force, NSS, NCC and students from government/private schools will participate in the march past and the cultural programmes by school children will also be presented on the occasion.

Threadbare discussions regarding various arrangements like security, sanitation, barricading, water and power supply, prize distribution, transportation etc were held during the meeting. Various committees comprising of district officers were framed to ensure adequate and proper arrangements well in time.DDC emphasized upon the officers of various departments to put in coordinated efforts to ensure smooth celebrations of the national function. 

SSP Kathua , Neeva Jain ,DC Excise Lakhanpur , DC Commercial Taxes, Lakhanpur, SDM Billawar, ACR , SDM Hiranagar , SDM Bani , CPO , RTO , PO ICDS , CEO , CMO , CEO LSDA , District Officers , Officers from police , traffic , CRPF and Principals of Government/Private educational institutions  were present in the meeting.
