Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today directed for establishment of Labour wing headed by Joint Director CA&PD to take care of interests of laborers in the Department. The Minister announced this, while elaborating on the initiatives of the government for safeguarding interests of underprivileged segments of the society, after inaugurating renovated go-down inside the CA&PD store here.The move envisages looking after and overseeing the issues of laborers including timely release of salaries, improved conditions at work place and maintenance of records etc.
The Minister was informed that the renovated go-down, having capacity of storing 10,000 quintals of food-grains, has been equipped with several high tech facilities like proper ventilation, de-moisturizing machine, elevated flooring etc which would go a long way in minimizing food-grain losses. “Besides, it will enable the department to serve quality essential commodities to the consumers,” he said.
Interacting with the laborers and other CA&PD officers, the Minister said the Government’s focus is to further streamline the functioning of the department. He said it has become possible due to the dedicated efforts of the department officials and workers who are working tirelessly for ensuring timely and quality services to the people. He said laborers are the integral part of the department and it is the prime concern of the government to create a conducive and comfortable atmosphere for them. He directed Director CA&PD to address all their genuine issues on priority. He said possibilities would also be explored to ensure facilities to laborers at par with FCI laborers.
“Government is evolving long term approach to ensure timely dispatch and distribution of ration besides plugging all the loopholes leading to diversion and black marketing,” the Minister asserted. He said that the government is keenly watching the performance of officials at all levels so that the careless are taken to task and the hardworking are rewarded.Regarding renovation of go-downs, the Minister said that government is working to construct advanced stores at the pattern of Silos in some states to further improve the functioning of these vital units of the department..Later, the Minister also installed IP camera in the renovated store. Director CA&PD G.S Chib, Joint Director CA&PD besides senior officers of the department were present on the occasion.
