Minister for Public Health Engineering and Irrigation & Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar today launched AASRA Scheme at Baramulla.Stressing for creating mass awareness regarding the scheme, Sukhnandan Kumar called for conducting effective public campaigns adding that “Results will only be achieved after proper awareness is created among the general public.” He appreciated the agenda of the scheme for being oriented towards the benefits of Poor sections of the society.Minister for Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs and Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari, Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari, MLA Baramulla, Javed Hussan Beigh, MLA Gulmarg, Mohammad Abbas Wani, MLA Rafiabad, Yawar Dilawar Mir, MLA Sopore and Abdul Rashid Dar also attended the function. District Development Commissioner, Yasha Mudgal and Officers of Social Welfare Department also attended during the function.
The DDC informed the gathering that a total of 40,000 forms have been issued under AASRA Scheme in the district so far, out of which 32, 000 forms have been received by the department. It was also mentioned that AASRA scheme is an Insurance Scheme for people below the annual income of Rs. 75,000 rupees, wherein the premium is wholly taken care of by the Government.Meanwhile, a training programme was organised in which teachers, Anganwari workers and employees of social welfare Department participated.During the training programme, the employees were provided necessary training regarding AASRA scheme and its implementation.Meanwhile, Sukhnandan Kumar distributed Motorised Tricycle among 29 beneficiaries.
