Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs Ch Zulfkar Ali today  said that Smart Class rooms would be set up  in schools in Tribal hamlets under Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojana in Kupwara and Rajouri Districts.The Minister said this while chairing a meeting to discuss the issues related to implementation of Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojana (VKY).Pertinent to mention that Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojana (VKY) a centrally sponsored scheme aims at  improving quality of life in tribal areas by bridging infrastructure gaps with focus on improving the quality of education and health besides qualitative and sustainable employment for tribal families .The Minister said that Rs 1 crore would be provided to education department for upgrading and providing requisite infrastructure and facilities in identified schools. He directed the concerned to immediately identify the schools to be upgraded in both the districts.

 Zulfkar said that out of Rs 5 crore financial  assistance provided by Union government  under the scheme, Rs 2 crore would be spend in strengthening health infrastructure, Rs 1 crore each would be given  for Skill Development, upgradation of livelihood schemes and programmes being implemented by the rural development department in tribal areas.Emphasizing on effective implementation of the scheme the Minister said robust steps are required to equip these institutions with proper infrastructure and manpower to gear up the process of monitoring and implementation of activities for achieving desired goals.Secretary Social Welfare Department, Secretary Tribal Affairs Department, besides officers of Education, Health, IT and R&B attended the meeting.

 The Minister also inaugurated newly constructed Giddi Sippi hostel at Udhampur yesterday.The Hostel being constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 343 lakhs has a capacity to accommodate 50 inmates. The Minister directed the concerned executing agency to expedite the construction work of the boundary walls and complete it at the earliest.
