Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan on Sunday laid the foundation stone of two Common Facilitation Centres (CFC) at Rajpora and Pulwama constituencies.Minister for Finance Dr Haseeb Drabu, who represents Rajpora constituency, accompanied the Minister.The Ministers distributed cheques worth rupees twenty thousand each among 12 beneficiaries under IAY. The Ministers, later, held a public meeting at Rajpora where the residents apprised them of their grievances and demands as well which inter alia include adequate power supply, better roads, water supply, timely ration supply and construction of bunds and Flood Protection works.Haq announced construction of a public park in the premises of CFC at Rajpora besides developing a playground at Naibasti Rajpora.
At Rajpora, while laying foundation of the CFC, Haq reaffirmed government commitment of creating durable assets which can last long for the posterity saying that RDD is working hard in this regard. "The CFCs serve as multipurpose asset and are beneficial for the people in catering to their larger needs," he added.The CFC will be constructed with an estimated cost of rupees 40 lakh each which is a part of the project "CFC in every Constituency" launched by the Minister earlier this year.Meanwhile, Haq Khan laid foundation of various flood protection works in Naibasti Rajpora.The Ministers were accompanied byDirector RDD, Tasaduq Jeelani, DC Pulwama and SSP Pulwama besides other officials.Abdul Haq, while interacting with the people at Naibasti, said the government has prioritized flood related works in Rural Development sector to safeguard public properties from suffering losses during floods. He said the Prime Minister's special package will help the State to develop a solid flood protection infrastructure that will include dredging of rivers and streams, construction of bunds and flood channels.
Minister said besides special package, he has converged funds under MGNREGA and 13th FC for flood related works which has received a good response on ground. He said such works will serve dual purpose of providing jobs to people under MGNREGA besides protecting the village from flood damages.
On the demand of local youths, Haq announced rupees ten lakh for development of a play ground in Naibasti village.Speaking on the occasion, the Finance Minister said the government led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed doesn't believe in working from the closed doors of Secretariat but in bringing governance at the doorsteps of the people. He said people had to move from pillar to post during earlier governments for sanctioning of even a tube well but now we have made an end to this practice by putting in place a transparent and a more responsive dispensation. Later, Haq accompanied by MlA Pulwama Mohammad Khalil Bhand visited Litter and took stock of development works being executed there under different projects.
