Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Friday laid the foundation stone of Panchayat Bhawan at Humhama in Budgam District.The Panchayat Bhawan cum Common Facilitation Centre (CFC) will be constructed at a cost of Rs 9.88 crores. The Construction of Panchayat Bhawan is a part of the project “CFC in every Constituency” launched by the Minister earlier this year.After laying foundation stone of the CFC, Minister asked the construction agency JKPCC to start the work immediately so that the project is completed within the stipulated time. The three storey CFC building will include a convention hall, two VIP Rooms, eight Guest rooms, pantry and a dining hall besides car parking in the premises.The Minister said the constructions being done by the government should become an asset which can be used by our future generations.  “The CFCs serve as the multipurpose assets and are beneficial for the people in catering their larger needs,” the Minister added.

He said development of rural and remote areas will be ensured by implementation of different Rural Developmental schemes that will be instrumental in changing socio-economic profile of the people living in these areas, besides providing them much needed employment opportunities.Regarding model villages, the Minister said he has a vision of new model villages which will not be restricted to construction of lanes, drains and community halls only. “It should be a real model for other villages where there would be a planned development and that would be sustainable besides making these villages polythene and pollution free,” he said adding that the program “My Village My world” is aimed at developing villages on modern lines.Haq said several initiatives are in pipeline on developmental front to ensure all round development and transformation of the State which will have no parallels in the annals of history.He said development of rural and remote areas will be ensured by implementation of different Rural Developmental schemes and will be instrumental in changing the socio-economic profile of the people living in these areas, besides providing much needed employment opportunities to them.The Minister was accompanied by Director Rural Development Tasaduq Jeelani besides officials of JKPCC and district administration.
