Senior journalist Mohammad Shafiq Nazki on Wednesday claimed to be receiving threats by the police and some “goons” of the district Poonch past couple of days.MS Nazki said the Policemen are warning him of ‘dire consequences’ if he continued to report on issues related to liquor sale and other security forces in the region.Nazki, working with Srinagar based news agency GNS as Bureau chief of Jammu division, has been an active reporter covering social and security related reports. The highlighted issues have been acted upon by the District administration effectively.An overview of the recent reports by the veteran journalist:On November 28, Nazki had reported about the people including Hindu and Muslim communities warning the district administration in Mendhar to ensure ban on sale of liquor and close down all bars which serve wine.

On November 30, Nazki quoting reliable sources had reported about police of facilitating liquor sale in the Mendhar Town.On December 10, Nazki had reported that the angry residents stoned the cavalcade of R&B Minister, Syed Altaf Bukhari in Mendhar.On December 14, Nazki had reported about attack on a local liquor outlet in Mendhar resulting in injuries to two persons.Meanwhile, the scribe alleged that a police officer in the town has warned him of dire consequences if he continued to report on issues including police of facilitating liquor sale and other issues related to them.“Some miscreants in the town also warned me for continuously reporting on liquor sale in the area”, Nazki claimed.Meanwhile, the scribe MS Nazki appealed the Director General of Police (DGP) and DC Poonch to look into the matter so that he has not to face problems while performing his duty.Pertinently, Nazki has received many awards at local and national level for his excellence work in the field of journalism.
