Taking a dig at Chairman JKLF Muhammad Yasin Malik for stating that no “bilateral solution” can be imposed on Kashmiris, former Indian Intelligence Chief A.S.Dulat Friday alleged that Malik wants to ‘ruin’ the efforts of track 2 diplomats who worked so hard to bring India and Pakistan on the table over Kashmir. “I don’t know what the problem with Malik is. Everything is futile for him. Instead of appreciating what is going on between India and Pakistan at present, Malik is harping on past,” Dulat told Srinagar based news agency CNS adding that people of Kashmir should pin hopes on the dialogue as it is a great opportunity for them.Pertinently Malik had said that Kashmiris have lost faith in dialogue institution as they are sidelined whenever any dialogue between India and Pakistan takes place.

Dulat said that Kashmir had always been discussed under track 2 diplomacy and it was the hard work and efforts put by diplomats that both India and Pakistan came on the table. “We had always been saying that dialogue is the only way out and one should not oppose dialogue process on weak grounds,” he said.He added that it is the life time opportunity for Narendra Modi and whole India to settle all the issues with Pakistan. “The ongoing dialogue has raised hopes and Kashmiri’s should not feel disappointed,” he said. When asked that Yasin Malik has said that they will mobilize leadership on the both sides of the fence and cross the Line of Control if the present approach continues, former Research and Analysis Wing Chief said that if Yasin Malik is not satisfied then he should settle in Pakistan for good. “I suggest him (Malik) to go to Pakistan,” he said. Dulat criticized Malik for taking a taking a dig at the National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah for issuing a statement that there can be no change in LoC. “The approach of Farooq Abdullah is a realistic one and we all know that borders can’t be changed.

Even Musharraf and Vajpayee agreed to this fact that borders can’t be altered. Neither Pakistan can occupy this part of Kashmir nor India can take away that part of Kashmir from Pakistan, even though India has adopted a resolution in 1994 claiming that part of Kashmir is the property of India,” Dulat said and questioned that why to criticize a person (Farooq) for uttering truth.Pertinently, former chief minister and NC leader Farooq Abdullah had suggested both India and Pakistan to formally accept the Line of Control (LoC) as permanent border and give internal autonomy to the parts of Kashmir held by them.
