Assailing the Congress party for hatching conspiracies to derail the process of development and peace in the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today said that the presence of several Congress leaders in ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ has exposed the party’s plan to push the state back in turbulent times.Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of Sangat Darshan program in Khadoor Sahib Assembly segment here today, the Chief Minister said that Congress was hobnobbing with the separatist forces to disturb the hard earned, peace, communal harmony and brotherhood in the state. He said that the worst thing was that despite of knowing everything the State Congress leadership has refused to take any action against the leaders including former Khadoor Sahib MLA Mr. Ramanjeet Singh Sikki, who had attended the congregation, from where talks of destabilizing peace and progress of the state were made.

“This has vindicated our stand that the Congress was wary of a peaceful and prosperous Punjab just for its vested political interests” added Mr. Badal. Replying to another query, the Chief Minister said that Punjab has scripted a new success story of development, peace and communal harmony during the regime of SAD-BJP alliance. He said that former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has not even a single contribution to his credit for the development of the state. On the other hand, Mr. Badal said that during the tenure of the alliance the state had initiated a large number of development projects, which were several times more than that of the Congress.Asked to comment on another issue, the Chief Minister said that state government has made stupendous efforts to curb the drug menace in Punjab. He said that not even a single ounce of drug was produced in the state but it was smuggled in the state from across the borders. However, Mr. Badal said that unprecedented efforts have been made by the state cut the supply line of drugs by taking stringent action against those found guilty in this heinous crime.

Earlier addressing the public gatherings during Sangat Darshan in village Chamba Kalan, Karmuwal, Chola Sahib, Mohanpura and Brahmpura, the Chief Minister said that the Sangat Darshan, which was a flagship program of the SAD-BJP alliance government, was very helpful in solving the problems of the people. Besides, he said that this program also act as a catalyst for the state government to boost the development in every nook and corner of Punjab by acquainting itself with the ground realities. Mr. Badal said that this program was completely a pro-people initiative aimed at ensuring the progress of the state and prosperity of its people.

Criticizing the Congress leadership for completely ignoring the state during their long rule, the Chief Minister said that Congress leaders just used the power for their own vested interests. He said that none of the Chief Ministers ever visited the villages to listen to the problems of the people. “I ardently believe that the problems of the people can only be solved by interacting with them here at villages but my friends in Congress enjoy the power while sitting in posh bungalows in Chandigarh and don’t bother about the people” added Mr. Badal.

The Chief Minister exhorted the people to spare their single day for attending the Sadbhawna Rallies, so as to spread message of peace and tranquility across the state. Mr. Badal said that another Sadbhwana Rally of Majha region would be held at Sri Goindwal Sahib on December 14 after tomorrow’s rally at Jalandhar on December 4. He said that the massive response to Sadbhawana rallies at Bathinda and Moga have proved that people of Punjab want peace and progress in the state and there was no space for divisive agenda in the state.

Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included Lok Sabha MP Jathedar Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, Chairman District Planning Committee Mr. Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, Executive Member of SGPC Jathedar Gurbachan Singh Karmuwal, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. KJS Cheema, Deputy Inspector General of Police Kunwar Vijay Pratap and Deputy Commissioner Mr. BS Dhaliwal.
