Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan today directed the officers of the Rural Development Department to utilize the allocated budget in different schemes by December this year.While reviewing the developmental works of Kupwara district, the Minister said the working season of the valley is up to December as the last quarter of the year usually witnesses harsh winter in Kashmir due to which developmental works are not possible.He asked officers to complete targeted works of the year by December. He warned the officers that if the funds are lapsed, he will take action against them. "I will reward performing officers and every employee's performance will be reviewed," he said.

Minister asked the officer to do flood related works on priority. He also asked the officers to create assets under MGNREGA. "We have restricted MGNREGA works to construction of protection bunds and small lanes. Forget about that now. Create some useful assets in the villages under this scheme so that its useful for our next generation also," Khan added.Earlier while reviewing the developmental works of the districts, the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara assured the minister that the target of the Panchayat and Rural Development works will be completed by the end of this year.Minister said he will again review the developmental works next week and will also visit the spots to take stock of the works under execution. Minister interacted with technical experts of agriculture, horticulture, integrated watershed experts working on ground. Khan sought suggestions from the experts for development of the rural areas and agricultural production.The meeting was attended by DC and ACD Kupwara besides Block Development Officers of various blocks of the district.
