Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, today inspected Seed Multiplication Farm, Chinore and took stock of the activities of the Farm.The Minister directed the concerned to work with utmost dedication and ensure improvement in the farm. He asked the agriculture authorities to guide farmers about the latest techniques and aware them about the schemes launched by the Government for the welfare of the farmers. He directed them to ensure increase in seed production and its timely distribution among the farmers.A team of officers of agriculture department including Director Agriculture Jammu accompanied the Minister during his visit.The Management of the Farm while briefing the Minister about the activities and objectives of the Farm said that 70 percent of total requirement of seeds of Jammu Division is being produced by it. 

He was told that the Farm is meant to produce genetically pure and quality seed of various categories while these seeds are distributed among the Farmers of varied agro climatic conditions for obtaining higher yields.It was also given out that the Farm is the largest Seed Multiplication Farm in Jammu and Kashmir State which is setting his rising trends in Wheat, Paddy, Potato and Oats seed production.Responding the demands of installation of Seed Processing Plant and Drying Unit, construction of Chain Link Fencing, improvement of infrastructure and irrigation facilities, the Minister asked them to come up with the proposals so that the funds could be arranged for the purpose.The Minister also inspected the mechanical earthing up of potato crop with Potato Ridger, Sowing of wheat with Seed-cum-Fertilizer Drill, broadcasting operation with Fertilizer Broadcaster and Harvesting operations of paddy with Combine Harvester.
