Dussehra was celebrated with great enthusiasm and religious fervour at Udhampur this evening at sports stadium.Thousands of people participated in the celebrations where the effigies of  Ravana, Kumbkarna and Meghnatha were consigned to flames marking victory of truth over evil.Minister of State for Finance & IT, Mr. Pawan Kumar Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion.On the occasion, the Minister greeted people of Udhampur and hoped that this festival would be harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in the district as well as State.MLA Chenani Dina Nath Bhagat was also present on the occasion.Earlier, the Dussehra Celebration Committee took out a colourful procession showcasing the tranche of Holy Ramayana followed by large number of peoples passed through the main bazaars of the town and finally culminated at the sports stadium.

Adequate arrangements of security, barricading, drinking water, power supply and medicare facilities with deployment of Ambulance were made by the District Administration in the Stadium.Among others, DIG Udhampur- Reasi Range, Surinder Gupta, SSP Mr Suleman Choudhary,ACR Udhampur Rajeev Magotra,  President & members of  Dussehra Celebration Committee, Civil Defence Wardens, prominent citizens  and people in large number were present on the occasion.Similarly, Dussehra festival was also celebrated at  Sports Stadium Reasi, where the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkarna and Meghnatha were burnt. Earlier, the Dussehra Celebration Committee Reasi took out a colourful procession starting from Chowk chabutra, passing through the main bazaars of the town and finally culminated at  the sports stadium Reasi.
