In order to keep the voters in high spirits, District Administration Mohali today arranged a special show of Punjab Movie Shayar at PVR at CP 67 Mall. Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain said that the voters who were taken to the Mall to show the movie were among the first 100 winners of the Marathon for Women held by the district administration a few days back and the PwD Voters.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mrs Sonam Chaudhary who accompanied these voters, encouraged them and all the specially-abled voters were distributed coffee mugs, caps, T-shirts and key rings with the message of voter awareness. On this occasion, the star cast director of Shayar Movie Uday Pratap Singh Sandhu and the actor of the film, Bunty Bais specially attended the show and appealed to the audience to vote on June 1 to encourage the other voters along with the review of the film on their respective social media pages. District Nodal Officer SVEEP Professor Gurbsakhsish Singh Antal said that before playing the film show, the video message of District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain was also displayed on the cinema screen and appealed to the general public to vote on June 1.
He said that today during this program more than 200 women and specially-abled voters enjoyed the film. The enthusiasm of the audience to celebrate the grand festival of democracy was very much visible, they were dancing in the mall by chanting slogans of democracy and encouraging people from outside as well.
Once the entire hall thrilled with the echo of slogans "We will vote, we will celebrate democracy, all the residents of Mohali will go to vote on June 1" and ‘My vote will be my strength.’ On this occasion, District Good Governance Fellow Vijay Lakshmi, State Coordinator PwD Poonam Lal, and eminent painter Gurpreet Singh Namdhari also encouraged the voters and gave a message to vote meaningfully.
After watching the film, Vinod Nagpal, general secretary of Divyang Jan Society, Neetu Gupta, teacher among women, Shivani Sharma, Nitika, Himani Saini, who will vote for the first time, thanked the District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner for this initiative and said that this festival of democracy being celebrated like a festival in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar has a unique style, where they will contribute by casting vote and to sensitise others to contribute to this great festival of democracy.
On this occasion, the specially-abled children were assisted by the members of the district SVEEP team including Professor Amritpal Singh, Balwinder Singh, Rajinder Singh and Sukhwinder Singh, to help them in entering the hall.
