Div Com reviews status of mega projects in Jammu

Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal today reviewed the status of ongoing mega projects in Jammu.The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Simrandeep Singh, Director ERA, Jammu R K Raina, Director Agriculture, Jammu S S Jamwal, Director Tourism, Jammu R K Varma, Director Industries, Jammu Dr A Rashid and other officers of the concerned departments.The Divisional Commissioner took a detailed review of the status of the mega projects including Multi-tier Parking at Bus Stand, Seed Multiplication Centre at Chakrohi, Industrial Estate, New Legislative Complex, Development of Tawi river front, Sidhra Golf Course, Modernization of Raghunath Bazar, restoration of Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex, modernization of Ranbir canal, Jammu Sewerage Project, Chenab Water Supply project, Four-laning of Satwari-Kunjwani road, Restoration work on fourth Tawi bridge, Jammu Ropeway project and works taken up under R-APDRP in Jammu.

Taking the review of the restoration process of Royal Mubarak Mandi complex, the Divisional Commissioner directed the officers of Jammu Development Authority to identify land for construction of permanent unit of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). “Having a permanent office of ASI will help to expedite the pace of restoration work in the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex” he added. He also directed the tourism authorities to develop a thematic ‘light & sound’ show on the history of Dogras, which would be an important feature of the upcoming heritage complex and an added tourist attraction.He asked the tourism department to consult the department of History, University of Jammu for developing the theme and content of the show. Stressing on the need for keeping the surroundings of historical complex clean, the Divisional Commissioner asked Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to carry out a cleanliness drive at the Heritage Complex in collaboration with Tourism Department.

Reviewing the status of Sidhra Golf Course, the Divisional  Commissioner  was informed that the second phase of upgradation of 18-hole golf course along with Club building and other ancillary works are in full swing and will be completed in the current financial year.The meeting also reviewed the progress of construction of New Legislative Complex. The Divisional Commissioner sought detailed report on status of different components of work.Regarding the construction of Jammu Ropeway project, the Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned officers to develop a parking space near the Upper terminal for the convenience of the tourists. The Divisional Commissioner emphasized on the need for adopting professional approach while executing various developmental projects and cautioned the concerned departments against delay in meeting the deadline.
