Greeting people on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, chairman of Democratic Liberation Party Hashim Qureshi has appealed people to observe the festival with utmost simplicity and remember the bereaved families of those men and children who were killed by unidentified gunmen in North Kashmir. In a statement issued to press, Qureshi said that the death of 3-year old Turkish child has revolted the conscience of entire Europe, but the killing of 3-year old Burhan Bashir couldn’t shook the conscience of people of Kashmir nor of the separatists leadership so that entire Kashmiri nation could have raised a united voice to seek the identity of unidentified gunmen and given the separatist movement a strategic direction.Deliberating on the economic blockade threat given by Vishua Hindu Parishad (VHP) to Kashmiris, the DLP chairman said that VHP is a Hindu fundamentalist organisation which harbours a communal ideology and is hell bent not only in dividing Jammu and Kashmir state on communal lines but also to hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims. “By issuing economic blockade threats, VHP is giving proof of its communal and fascist ideology,” he said.Qureshi said that as per India own constitution the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly can enact laws keeping the secular ethos into consideration, but VHP trying to negate the laws passed by the assembly is only exposing its communal mindset.
