Chairman JKLDP, Hashim Qureshi has expressed his deep resentment and despair on the wanton killing and mayhem let loose by Indian security forces in connection with the ongoing disturbances and unrest in the valley of Kashmir. He contended that for last seven decades the intellectuals and policy planners of India have not realized that without solving Kashmir dispute, the two countries of the sub-continent could be prepared for a full scale war on even a minor happening. Therefore, it becomes unavoidable that instead of suppressing the Kashmir issue through the use of violence and pallet guns, the issue should be resolved through dialogue according to the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement issued to KNS, Hashim Qureshi appealed to the people that they should decline to lend support to such elements as are causing damage to the ongoing movement by discouraging the elements that ignore the sacrifices given by the martyrs and serve their personal interests. Rejecting violence in all forms, he appealed to the youth to bring out peaceful demonstrations by carrying burning candles and desist from fluttering unnecessary flags. The only one slogan that should resound everywhere is ham kya chahte – azaadi so that the Indian security forces find no justification for killing the protesting Kashmiri youth. He added that the success of our movement will be assured provided we make it non-violent. We need to take resort to moral and non-violent values so that our struggle is responded by all freedom loving nations of the world. He appealed the international community to bring pressure on Indian government to shun the use of pallet gun in suppressing the peoples’ freedom movement in Kashmir. (KNS)
