Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali on Wednesday asked people affiliated with the cement industry to maintain the product quality and price control.The Minister said this in a meeting with the private players of state’s cement industry today. Issuing strict warning against the mal-practitioners, the Minister directed the concerned officers that anyone found indulging in unfair trading practices to take advantage of the situation should not be spared and strict action should be taken against the culprits.He was assured by the directors of various private cement companies that from last three years they have not raised their prices and they are not intending to do any such thing in the near future either.

The Minister said that he wants a healthy competition in the industry. However, it should not be at the cost of customer.“We want to help to grow in every possible manner as the cement industry also plays an important role in state’s development. However, we want your cooperation in doing so by maintaining the quality in your products and a control over the prices,” the Minister said while interacting with the delegation.  

He was apprised that the industry faces problems due to erratic power supply for which the Minister assured them that he would hold a meeting with the Commissioner PDD, and Chief Engineer PDD to resolve their issue.The meeting was attended by representatives from Tramboo Cements, Khyber Cement, ACC Cements, TCI Cements, Saifco Cements.Secretary, CA&PD,  Saurabh Bhagat, General Manager J&K Cements, Qasim Ahmad, Chief Engineer PMGSY, D.D. Gorka, Director Industries, Nazim Khan and other officers were also present on the occasion.
