Legislative panel seeks action against doctors indulging in private practice during office hours

A committee of legislators today suggested the Government to ensure that the doctors don’t do private practice during office/working hours. It also suggested closure of all unregistered medical shops and illegal sex determination centers.The suggestions were made at the meeting of the Committee on Subordinate Legislation held under the Chairmanship of MLA, Mr Bashir Ahmed Dar here today to examine and securitize the rules, regulations, bylaws etc of Health and Medical Education Department.The members of the Committee MLA, Mr. Mubarak Gul, Mr. Abdul Majeed Larmi, Mr. Kuldeep Raj, Ch. Qamar Hussain and Mtr. Anjum Fazli attended the meeting and gave their suggestions.The Committee suggested to stop the private practice of the doctors during the working/office hours and to adopt the PC PNDT Act in J&K. It also suggested shutting down of the unregistered medical shops and illegal sex determination centers. 

The Committee also recommended tough legal action against the persons who are involving in trading of sub-standard drugs. It advised the officers of the H&ME department to provide better health care facilities to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.Secretary Health and Medical Education Department, Dr. M K Bandhari, Director SKIMS, Dr. S A Zargar, Director General ISM, Drug Controller J&K, Director FW, MCH immunization J&K, Principal Medical College, Srinagar/Jammu, Director Health Services Kashmir/Jammu, Additional Secretary Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs besides officers of Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
