Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi visited the Sri Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Jammu and inspected ongoing works being taken up to upgrade available facilities in the historical school, here today.The school has been adopted by the Minister and is one of the two model schools in the city which have been nominated by the government to be developed on most modern lines. A series of works are underway to upgrade education infrastructure in the model school.While reviewing the progress of works, Priya expressed concern on the slow pace and directed for speeding up of the undertaken works so as to complete the works within the stipulated time frame.

She inspected the laboratories which are being upgraded and took a strong note of the dilapidated condition of the labs. She directed the CEO and the Principal to monitor and speed up the pace of works so as to ensure that modern labs are made available to students at the earliest.“To enhance capabilities of the school and ensure quality learning atmosphere, various works have been undertaken and it is personal responsibility of the Principal and the other concerned to ensure that modern education infrastructure is made available to the students,” she added.Director, School Education Jammu Smita Sethi, CEO, Jammu J.K. Sudan, the Principal and other senior officers and teachers were present during the visit.

The Minister said that civil works in the school are going on in full swing but need of the hour is to prioritize the works, adding that modern infrastructure is an integral part of the quality education and immediate priority should be given to those works which enhance quality of learning atmosphere in the school.

She said special provisions are being made for differently abled children and changes have being made as per the needs of the physically challenged students.She said the government has envisaged the novel concept of model schools to monitor quality of education in a cluster of feeding schools. She said academics in the school would be strengthened by providing required trained human resource and introducing innovative teaching tools.“A new smart classroom equipped with modern IT enabled education tools would be built in the school and an auditorium would also come up for ensuring better teaching experience to the students,” she added.
