To put the setting of Baba Moti Ram Mehra memorial at Fatehgarh Sahib on the fast track, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today constituted a 3-memeber committee comprising former SGPC Chief Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar & Chairman Punjab State Backward Classes commission, Vice Chancellor Punjabi University Patiala Dr. Jaspal Singh and former cabinet Minister Mr. Hira Singh Gabria.Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s office said that the committee has been mandated to identify the five acre land for the construction of upcoming memorial. The chief Minister also entrusted the task of designing of the site plan of the memorial to the state Chief Architect on the lines of Guru Virja Nand and Bhai Mardana ji Memorial. The Chief Minister also asked the Principal Secretary Culture Affairs to get the entire work related to the selection of the site and designing of site plan by all means within one and a half month.Taking part in the deliberations, the Cultural and Tourism Minister Mr. Sohan Singh Thandal assured the Chief Minister that all the requisite formalities would be completed within the stipulated time frame to ensure timely completion of this prestigious project. 

It may be recalled that the legendary Baba Moti Ram Mehra is highly revered in the Sikh history for his supreme sacrifice, who was martyred by the then Mughal Governor of Sirhind Wazir Khan for providing milk to the younger Sahibzadas of tenth master of Sikhs Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji, who were exiled along with their grandmother Mata Gujri ji in the ‘ Thanda Burj’ for defying the edicts of the then tyrannical Mughal empire. Prominent amongst others who attended the meeting included former SGPC Chief Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar & Chairman Punjab State Backward Classes commission, Vice Chancellor Punjabi University Patiala Dr. Jaspal Singh, former cabinet Minister Mr. Hira Singh Gabria, noted sikh scholar and historian Dr. Kirpal Singh and Director Cultural Affairs Mr. Navjot pal Singh Randhawa.
