“India and its stooges in Jammu & Kashmir are promoting violence by choking peaceful political space. Kashmiri youth are being subjected to worst state violence and hence pushed to the wall. This in all respects is anti-democratic and barbaric,” this was stated by the chairman JKLF Mohammad Yasin Malik while speaking to veteran human rights leader, social and religious personality Swami Agni Vaish who met Malik at JKLF office today.Malik said that Kashmiries at the behests of International community transformed their struggle from a violent mode to a non-violent mode. “People’s revolutions in 2008 and 2010 are a glaring example of this historic transformation. Kashmiris were hoping that India and the International community will respect this positive change and suitable space will be provided to the peaceful resistance, but India chose violence to curb this peaceful movement and through military might and force crushed this peaceful people’s revolution.

Ironically international community also chose to maintain criminal salience on this,” Malik said.“Hundreds of Kashmiris were martyred by Indian bullets, thousands of peaceful youths were arrested and tortured and this wrath continues till date. After the installation of PDP, BJP Government in J&K situation has worsened much more. Nobody  is allowed to even speak freely, political space has been totally chocked, youth are being subjected to worst kind of oppression, nocturnal raids, arrests, restrictions and other oppressive measures have become the order of the day. This state sponsored violence is pushing whole Kashmir to the wall and especially youth are being compelled to go for violent means,” the JKLF chairman added. He said all this was also done in late 1980’s , when youth were tortured arrested and denied space in the same way and which became a cause for them to chose armed path.

Malik stressed upon Swami Agni Vaish to use his influence and persuade Indian rulers to change their “violent attitude.”He said that as a social, religious and civil society leader Swami Jee must raise his voice against this state sponsored violence. On the occasion Swami Agni Vaish termed the whole situation as unfortunate and said that choking space on peaceful struggle will only promote violence. “This callous approach of rulers all over the world is bringing disaster and humanity is on decline because of all this,” he said and assured Kashmiris that he along with other civil society members will raise his voice against these tyrannical acts and soon a protest will be held in Delhi.
