Minister for R&B declared open Annual Sports Meet-2015 at St Joseph School Baramulla yesterday.MLA, Baramulla, Javed Hassan Baig, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, BA Khan, MD, JKPCC, PL Bhushan, Principal of the School, Father Dr Johnson besides, senior Government officers and parents of the students were present on the occasion.The Minister while interacting with the students advised them to bear in mind that hard work done during their preparatory years spent as a student in the school which shall be Key for their success in the profession they chose. He said “these years will be one of the most meaningful period in your life and would serve as the guiding one for the rest of the life”.

Syed Altaf Bukhari said that school should keep pace with changing technology and impart technical knowhow of modern technology to the students enrolled in the school. He said apart from traditional games football, cricket and hockey, the school should introduce the games like lawn tennis, table tennis, Rugby, Archery, Shooting and swimming which are being played internationally.Getting nostalgic about his school days, the Minister said that it was a great time to grow up together. He said his emotions are attached with the school and cherish every un-forgotten moment of the days he has spent under the shades of this school building and tall trees. He said school played a big role in shaping the career of him and his classmates.

The Minister said participating in extra-curricular activities like excursion, camping, scouting and trekking was an essential part of studies, adding that special attention was focused on physical fitness.Acclaiming the role of St. Joseph management, it played in the field of health and education, the Minister, as a token of encouragement, donated Rs 5 lakh for the welfare of the school. He also offered technical and logistic support for development of botanical garden in the school besides macadamization of inner roads of the institute.Javed Baig while appreciating the role played by St. Joseph management in the field of health and education said that the organization has done a commendable job in keeping the institutions functional despite facing difficulties during a long spell of turmoil. He said the students enrolled here are fortunate enough and they (students) will realize it later on when they grow up.

Baig said suggested for inviting the teachers of Govt schools on such occasions to interact with each in order to get the requisite feedback about the working and imparting of education. He said students while bringing laurels to the school should also work forbringing a good name to their state.MLA announced Rs. 10 lakh out of his CDF for the development of St. Joseph hospital in view of the social services being extended by this prestigious health institute to the people of the state.On the occasion, the Minister and MLA gave away sports and academic awards among the meritorious players and students of the school.Later the Minister visited Sheeri and laid foundation of 30 Mtr long truss girder bridge being constructed over nallah Mundri at Audoora in Baramulla district. The bridge coming up at an estimated costRs 3.33 crore, targeted to be completed by March 2016, will provide connectivityto Malpora, Masran, Tadipora villages of the area.

MLA, Baramulla Javed Hussain Baig, MD, JKPCC, PL Bhushan, SEs from R&B and PDD were also present on the occasion.Both the leaders addressed a public gathering there and highlighted the programmes of the Govt. Seeking cooperation from the people in taking forward the developmental plans.Syed Altaf Bukhari said that all the aspirations of the people would be fulfilled inphased manner. He said “we have come to serve the people not to rule them”.The Minister, apart from taking stock of ongoing work of Sopore bypass  bridge, also visited by-foot Chankhan, Ontoohamam, Hathishah, Shahabad and Jamia Qadeem areas in Sopore town. He also visited Ziyarat Shah-i-Hamdan Khankahi Moulla at Jamia Qadeem and prayed there for welfare, peace and prosperity of the people and the State. He asked took stock of the macadamization started in these areas and asked SE R&B to construct drains to fulfil the demands of the people.
