The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kathua Ajay Singh Jamwal today reviewed the progress on establishment of District Disability Rehabilitation centre (DDRC) here at a meeting of District Management Team.Chairing the meeting, the DC laid emphasis on the objectives of establishment of DDRC in the district. He said DDRC has been established for providing comprehensive services to the persons with disabilities and for facilitating creation of the infrastructure & capacity building for their rehabilitation.Discussions were held on the issues of survey and identification of persons with disabilities, creation of awareness for encouraging and enhancing prevention of disabilities, early detection and early intervention, to provide supportive and complimentary services to promote education and Vocational Training for persons with disabilities.
It was informed in the meeting that a District Management Team (DMT) is in place in the district and working already. During the meeting DDC Kathua who is also the chairman of DDRC nominated District Social welfare officer Babu Ram Tandon as Nodal officer of DDRC to facilitate better coordination and management of the centre.An implementing agency under the Chairmanship of DDC Kathua and Chief Medical officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Medical Superintendent, PO ICDS and Executive secretary IRC as members was also constituted.
