Minister for Labour, Planning and Development Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today said that focussed attention is being paid towards upgrading various facilities in order to enhance the quality of life of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.Interacting with people after the commencement of black topping of Nandani to Sardarechak link road in Marh constituency this morning, the Minister said that  roads, drinking water, irrigation and civic amenities have gained impetus over the years.The Minister said that a massive developmental effort has been launched by the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in all the three regions of the State. He said the government is committed to upgrade various facilities and in this initiative the cooperation of the people is imperative. 

Urging the people to actively join the effort, the Minister said that the Panchayati Raj System has opened up vistas of opportunities for the rural population, making them important ingredient of the decision making process. He said Panchayats have to play an important role in rural development and the mechanism essentially aims at prioritizing the schemes at the grass roots level.The Minister asked the executing agency to ensure quality work and complete the projects in stipulated time frame.Mr Sadhotra also took review of various development works under execution in the constituency and sought status of these from the concerned officers. He hoped that these works will be completed timely so that benefits accrue to the people.
