Div Com reviews implementation of scheme “Assist” by NFCH

In connection with implementation of centrally sponsored scheme “Assist” by National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) in Valley,  Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon convened a high level meeting through video conference with all Deputy Commissioners of valley and district social welfare officers of all districts.The meeting was also attended by Executive Director Rehabilitation Council, Social Welfare Department and other senior officers of Social Welfare Department.Threadbare discussions were held on implementation of the said schemes and various issues were discussed in the meeting.The Divisional Commissioner got detailed report on implementation of the “Assist” scheme from all Deputy Commissioners.

The Executive Director, Rehabilitation Council (SWD) while giving details apprised the meeting that 4580 children were covered under this centrally sponsored scheme in valley and a financial aid of Rs. 77 lakh were disbursed among them through  Department of Social Welfare upto April 2015.The Divisional Commissioner directed all Deputy Commissioners and officers of Social Welfare Department to implement the “Assist” scheme on grass root level and cover all beneficiaries. He also directed the officers of Social Welfare Department to organise awareness programme for the general public so that they could be benefited by centrally sponsored schemes.

The Divisional Commissioner also reviewed the status of assistance provided to children affected by violence in of North Kashmir and he was apprised that 2486 children have been covered under the scheme and financial assistance has been  distributed among the affected children. The Divisional Commissioner stressed upon the officers of SWD to remain in touch with Deputy Commissioners for implementation welfare schemes so that affected person would be benefitted.
