Arrangements for the forthcoming Shab-i-Qadr, Jumat-ul- Vida and Eid-ul-Fitr were given finishing touch at a joint meeting of officers and traders, convened here this morning under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner R.K. Bhat.It was decided in the meeting that joint squads led by Tehsildar with the  officers of Police, CA&PD, Health and Municipal will undertake market checking in the district to maintain price  of essential commodities with special focus on edibles like meat, milk, vegetables and fruits. They will also monitor that quality essentials are available to consumers on the notified rates.

Executive Officers were asked to initiate special sanitation drives and beautify premises of shrines, Jamia mosques and Eidgahs. They were directed to spruce up the roads and lanes and cleanse drains to give festive look to religious as well as market places ahead of holy days.

The officers were also directed to ensure that every shopping establishment/sale centre must display rate lists to avoid overcharging by the shopkeepers.  Power and PHE departments were asked to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply during the festival days.It was informed in the meeting that the Fisheries/Animal Husbandry departments have set up outlets for sale of chicken and trout fish at Government notified rate i.e.  Rs 110 per kg and Rs 400 per kg respectively. These Centres have been established at Kulgam, Chancer, Lirow and Chawalgam to facilitate the public. Among others, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Executive Engineers of PHE, PDD, Assistant Director CA&PD and Executive Officers of Municipal Committees besides representatives of Traders bodies attended the meeting.
