Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla has said that Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) has played vital role in promoting the composite culture of India and its culture heritage among the people.This was stated by the Minister at a National Group Song Competition held at auditorium of Regional Research Laboratory in which eighteen teams from Jammu, Samba, Katha, Udhampur and Reasi districts participated.Founder Trustee Jammu Yatri Bhawan, Haridwar Mr. Mr.Ram Langer, President Chamber of Commerce Mr. Y V Sharma, National Secretary Samagra Gram Vikas and Central Observer Mr. Radhe Sham Mahajan besides other representatives of BVP were present on the occasion.

Bhalla appreciated the efforts of BVP in inculcating the spirit of patriotism among the youth. He appealed the teacher fraternity to impart quality training to students in co-curricular activities so that they can compete on international level and bring laurels for the state. He said that education sector is priority sector of the Government, for this purpose, scores of new schools were opened and upgraded besides scores of colleges even in the far-flung areas of the state for the benefit of students.The Minister said that education should empower youth and imbibe in them virtues of humanity and the spirit to fight against the evils confronting the society today. He said the emphasis laid by his government on the expansion of education has resulted into the higher education reaching to the doorsteps of the people even in the remote areas of the State.Bhalla said aim of the BVP is to organise the elite and intellectual citizens and to motivate them to serve our poor, disabled, illiterate and ignorant brethren not as an act of charity but in the true spirit of our cultural tradition of service as duty. Earlier, the students of various schools of Jammu region presented 10 Hindi and 3 Sanskrit items which were highly applauded by the audience.
