The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Saturday organised an interface meet with members of various Farmer Clubs promoted under its “Farmers Club Programme” in district Samba.The programme organised by the District Development Manager of NABARD, Surinder Singh was attended by around fifty farmer club members. Speaking on the occasion, Surinder Singh congratulated the members of various clubs and explained how these informal forums at gross root level can act as catalyst in promotion of agriculture sector.He asserted that the clubs are the means for transmitting the latest agriculture techniques to the Farmers’ field, orienting them to establish better relationship with banks, adoption of latest post-harvest handling technology, value addition, etc. and enjoy the benefits of collective bargaining power both for procuring inputs and select their produce.Sachin Sharma from Department of Agriculture made a comprehensive presentation on cultivation of various crops, importance of cropping system, diversification of cropping system and its economic benefits for the farmers, use of balanced dose of fertilizers, organic manure and other measures for obtaining maximum production and productivity.C L Padha guided the participants on Horticulture related issues. LDM Samba, Rajesh Sharma urged upon all members to work steadfastly towards excellence of their clubs.
