Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats Abdul Haq Khan today conducted extensive tour to Wavoora block.On the way he inspected ongoing development projects including Kupwara-Lolab bypass road and bridge under construction at the cost of Rs. 4.65 crore and Rs. 2.21 crore respectively.

The Minister also reviewed the progress on ongoing development projects at a meeting of officers and engineers. The District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Mr. K.R Ranjan and other officers were present in the meeting.The Minister impressed upon the concerned agencies for timely completion of the ongoing development work. He exhorted upon the officers to expedite the pace of work on various projects in Lolab constituency of district Kupwara.

The DDC briefed the visiting Minister about the status of the works under execution.

Mr. Abdul Haq said Rs 17 crore are being released from the Rural Development Department for implementation of various rural development schemes. He further directed the concerned officers for timely completion of the under-construction projects as per the deadline fixed by the Chief Minister during his recent tour to these areas.The Minister also convened an Awami Durbar at Wavoora wherein the people highlighted their grievances.The Minister impressed upon the district administration to make all basic facilities available to the people of the district during the holy month of Ramadan including potable drinking water, power supply, health care, road connectivity, tanker service and other requisite services.He announced an amount of Rs 5 crore for implementation of UMEED scheme in Wavoora block. The scheme is aimed at empowering the women folk. He said a community hall is being constructed in the block headquarter for conducting social activities.
