Chief Minister exhorts local bodies to generate income resources

Chief Minister  Virbhadra Singh said that local bodies should focus on generating more income sources by maximum utilization of resources available at local level besides proper taxing. He was speaking during a function organized by Nagar Parishad Kullu in his honour last evening at Kullu. Chief Minister said that almost all the local bodies of the State were dependent upon government grants and they were not able to collect taxes properly. He stressed the need for proper tax collection including house tax and appealed to the people to pay taxes well in time for availing various facilities being provided by the local bodies such as street lights, water, sanitation etc. Shri Virbhadra Singh said that State Government would consider the demands of Nagar Parishad Kullu sympathetically.Earlier, Shri Rishabh Kalia, Chairman, Nagar Parishad Kullu and Shri Manu Sharma, Vice Chairman apprised the Chief Minister about their demands. Member of Parliament Smt. Pratibha Singh, MLA Shri Karan Singh and other prominent persons were also present on the occasion.
