Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today gave Rs 2 lakhs from his party to the family of Joginder Singh, the deceased farmer who died during protest here yesterday. Sharing the grief of the family, he said, nothing can compensate for the loss of a precious life.Capt Amarinder went to the local Civil Hospital, where his body had been kept to meet the family members and convey his condolences. He provided the cash assistance to Ms Veerpal Kaur, the wife of the deceased farmer. The former Chief Minister blamed Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for the farmer's death. He said, had Mr Badal shown some concern and taken some interest to ensure that the farmers got timely payment, they (the farmers) would not have been forced to go for protest which cost one precious life.

He expressed surprise as why the state government was sitting over Rs 14,640 crores for which credit limit was provided by the Reserve Bank of India on April 1. This money, he said, was exclusively meant for paying to the farmers for their wheat.Capt Amarinder was accompanied by the local party leaders including OP Soni, Dr Raj Kumar, Sukh Sarkaria, Harjinder Thekedar, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Harpartap Singh Ajnala, Gurjeet Aujla, Dinesh Bassi, Arun Joshi, Bhupinder Randhawa and others.
