Calling for immediate rehabilitation of flood affected people of Kashmir Valley,  former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Monday said that the Government of India must without any delay step-in to revamp, on priority, the dilapidated medicare facilities, inundated roads and take measures to rehabilitate the traders who according to him suffered immensely due to devastating floods.Azad said rather than being serious about the miseries of the flood victims, the central government has indulged itself in politicking about various issues, instead it should work effectively for the rehabilitation of the flood victims of the state.” He said it will take years to develop the areas which have been hugely devastated by floods and the immediate financial assistance could have helped in the rebuilding the areas that are in ruins these days. “Infrastructure in schools and college’s could have been again installed; many hospitals are without equipment's even today.

Azad according to CNS, expressed concern over the flood-threat looming over Kashmir Valley and said that his all sympathies with the people residing in the flood-prone areas of Kashmir.  “I urge upon the state governmet to take measures to mend the faulty drainage system of Srinagar city. A little downpour inundates the whole Srinagar city and this time as well due to water logging in Srinagar, people were panicked and for a while it gave an impression that whole Kashmir Valley will be flooded due to incessant rains,” he said adding that flood tragedy has reiterated the urgency of having sufficient manpower in every sector.Azad asked the state government to ensure that panicked people of Valley get hassle-free ration, medicine and other facilities. He expressed shock over the Budgam incident in which several people got buried alive. (CNS)
