Concerned over the erratic power supply and scarcity of essential commodities in the Erstwhile Doda district, Member of Legislative (MLA) Inderwal, G. Saroori today asked the Government to take immediate measures for improving the power scenario and ensuring availability of daily needs.Saroori has said that the unscheduled power cuts have pushed people to wall. He said that in the freezing temperature the people have been deprived of ration, sugar, kerosene oil and LPG. He said the unscheduled power supply has added into their problems.

“Despite a huge hydroelectric potential, the State has been energy deficit for long and now when the cap on LPG cylinders has aggravated the situation, Saroori said this while meeting with various deputation from Chatroo, Chingam, Mugalmaidan, Sigdi, Keshwan, Thakrie, Sarthal, Saroor, Drabshalla, Thathri, Phigsoo, Khara, Bhatyas, Bathri, Jakyas and Bunjwah and added that authorities should take immediate steps to overcome about the problems faced by the common people.

Saroori has also conveyed an officers meeting from Inderwal constituency here at Kishtwar today and reviewed the post snowfall scenario in the area besides received brief about the restoration of essential supplies and services in the district.Officers apprised the MLA Inderwal about the measures taken in restoration of utilities, supplies and services in the snow bound and hilly areas.Mr. Saroori directed the officers to redouble their efforts and take restoration work of supplies and services on war footing basis so that relief is provided to the people living in snow bound and hilly areas of the region. 

He said that monitoring of restoration work should be made on daily basis and any sort of carelessness / low performance will not be tolerated.Saroori also directed CA&PD Department including all the TSO’s to ensure dumping of adequate quantity of ration in Chatroo, Thakrie, Drabshallah, Thathri, Khara and other snowbound areas.He said that he (Saroori) is fully aware about the problems being faced by the people living in the areas and efforts on war footing basis are being made to provide all the basic amenities to the people in such extreme weather conditions.
