The Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo today informed the House that against 7350 pendening cases in Srinagar district under ISSS, 2500 cases have been sanctioned reducing the figure to 4850 adding that the 50% funds for this purpose have already been released.Replying to a question by Peer Afaq Ahmad in Legislative Assembly, Social Welfare Minister informed that there are 9300 cases pending as on date under IGNOAPS, ISSS and NFBS in Srinagar district out of which 3200 cases are under IGNOAPS, 4850 cases under ISSS and 1250 cases under NFBS.

The Minister said that regarding clearance of pending cases under IGNOAPS and NFBS the matter has been taken up with the Centre.In reply to the supplementaries by Mrs. Bimla Luthra, Mr. Irfan Ahmad Shah, Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Mr. Jugal Kishore and Mr. Yashpal Kundal, the Social Welfare Minister said that due to concerted efforts of the government out of one lakh pendening pension cases under different schemes 50% cases have been cleared during last over 4 years in the State and matter for clearance of remaining cases has been taken up with the Centre for release of funds. She said there is no discrimination in the clearance of pendency cases under NFBS or other schemes to any constituency adding that the cases are being cleared as per the demand. She clarified that pendency is increasing due to deaths.The Minister said that government is examining to set up Tehsil Social Welfare Office in Srinagar adding that the said office would be established on internal arrangements well in time.
