A taxi driver who has been accused of rash and negligent driving which led to the death of then union minister Gopinath Munde in June last year, appeared in a court here Wednesday.Accused Gurvinder Singh, 32, appeared before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Khanagwal following a summons issued against him by the court Dec 5 last year. The court posted the matter for April 8 for further hearing after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) supplied charge sheet and other documents related to the case to Singh. The CBI charge sheeted Singh under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.

Singh was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the crash in which Munde was killed, and was granted bail by a court June 3 last year.Munde's car was hit by Singh's taxi at the Prithviraj Road-Tughlak Road roundabout in the heart of the high-security Lutyen's Zone of New Delhi area when the minister was on his way to the Indira Gandhi Airport.Singh had alleged that the minister's driver had jumped the traffic signal, causing the crash. Delhi Police registered a case against Singh and the case was later handed over to the CBI.Munde, 64, a popular backward class leader from Maharashtra, died due to shock and haemorrhage following injuries in his neck and liver in the crash, the CBI said in its report while ruling out any foul play.
