The proposed formation of a political front by erstwhile Janata Parivar parties was a "distant possibility" and "they won't get anything out of it", union minister Ram Vilas Paswan said Tuesday. It won't get materialised," the minister for consumer affairs, food and public distribution said at a press conference here."It's being done to secure 18 percent Muslim vote in the upcoming elections in Bihar but they won't get anything," the Lok Janshakti Party chief said.He accused the parties - Janata Dal-United, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Samajwadi Party - of being "least bothered" about the welfare of the people.

"We were also part of it during V.P. Singh's time. He lost his government over issues concerning the poor but they don't have any ideology," Paswan said."How long will they go on asking for votes on the basis of caste?" he asked. To a query why he was keeping mum on issues like religious conversion and BJP leaders making comments on it, he said it was the BJP leader and not the government involved in these controversies."Had it been said or done by the government, we would have reacted," he said.
