Srinagar , 28 Dec 2014

Rejecting the reports of any final agreement held with BJP, PDP on Sunday said no serious deliberations have so far taken place for the formation of the new government in Jammu and Kashmir.PDP chief spokesman Naeem Akhtar told KNS that the party is in no formal talks with the BJP at present, though there have been the ‘informal’ contacts taking place between all the political parties. The PDP chief spokesman also was quick to add that efforts are on for the formation of the stable government in Jammu and Kashmir. As the PDP won 28 seats during the recently held state elections with the BJP gaining its ground in Jammu in 25 assembly segments, the hung assembly is being witnessed with the alliance between the two ideologically different parties, seeming unlikely so far.

“There are no formal talks going on between BJP and PDP. Negotiations with all  the parties are on so far no break through is being witnessed,” Akhtar told KNS. He added that there are informal contacts but the serious and the final agreements are yet to take place so that hung assembly could end in Jammu and Kashmir after the state elections of 2014.The fractured verdict, which was announced on December 23, accorded no party the numbers seats to form the government on its own. The results that were revealed on December 23, has pided the seat share among ideological and regional rivals who have little common ground to stitch together an alliance.People’s Democratic Party this time has won 28 seats and has gained seven seats as co0mpared to the last elections.  BJP has gained 14 seats this time as earlier that party had 11 members in the assembly.

On the other side, NC has lost 15 seats and most of them from the summer capital Srinagar. Earlier the party had 28 members but this time the results have squeezed it to mere 15.  The state Congress has lost five seats this time as the party this time has 12 seats in its kitty. Both the BJP and the PDP benefited from widespread public discontent over the ruling National Conference party's handling of devastating September floods that killed more than 200 people in Kashmir.
