Taking a strong exception to withdrawal of security cover to candidates who could not win the recently held assembly elections, CPI (M) State Secretary and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has said the administrative decision reflects non application of mind and must be reviewed immediately. In a statement issued here today, Tarigami said it is illogical and bereft of any wisdom that within a few days after the results of elections were announced, the security cover of these candidates has been withdrawn without considering their security concerns.

“By withdrawing the security cover of the candidate who could not win the assembly elections, the administration has put their lives in peril. All these candidates whose security cover has been withdrawn have been put to grave security risk,” he said, adding that the political activists put their lives in grave risk by contesting the elections in trouble-torn Valley and the administration should have taken any such decision only after reviewing their threat perception.Tarigami demanded that the order about lifting of security cover to the candidates who contested the recent assembly elections be rescinded and all the vulnerable political activists be provided the stipulated security cover without any delay.
