Accusing West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress of trying to disrupt the CBI probe into the multi-crore rupee Saradha scam, the Congress Sunday said it will move the Supreme Court seeking its intervention.

Congress leader Abdul Mannan, who played a key role in filing a petition on which the SC eventually directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the scam, said Trinamool's rants against the central agency tantamount to contempt of court. "The chief minister (Mamata Banerjee) and her Trinamool has unleashed a war against the CBI to disrupt the probe into the scam. This is contempt of court so we will be Monday moving the Supreme Court seeking its intervention so that the scam probe continues without any hindrances," Mannan told IANS.

He also condemned the ruckus created by Trinamool activists Saturday during the court appearance of State Transport and Sports Minister Madan Mitra arrested in connection with the Saradha scam. The Congress leader said the petition will also seek action against the Trinamool for disrupting the court proceedings.

Former apex court judge A.K. Ganguly too strongly criticised Saturday's ruckus at the court and asserted the Calcutta High Court ought to take cognisance of the matter especially the way a battery of lawyers representing Mitra shouted to drown the voice of CBI counsel P.S. Dutta in their bid to prevent him from making his submissions. "Nobody is above law. If I were the chief justice of Calcutta High Court, I would take suo motu cognisance," Ganguly said.Mitra was Saturday remanded to CBI custody till Dec 16 even as thousands of Trinamool activists and supporters shouted anti CBI slogans and vandalised a police vehicle.
