Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Friday called for complete shutdown on December 8 against the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement, Geelani urged people to register their protest in every nook and corner of state and added that “we time and again say that Kashmir has never been a part of India and India with its military might occupied the state of Jammu and Kashmir.”While calling for a complete shutdown on Modi’s visit, Geelani said, “We will convey him that Kashmir is not a part of India and that on 27th October 1947, Indian troops occupied Jammu and Kashmir and despite their commitment in United Nations and with the people of state, India failed to keep its promise. The people of state are perusing their right to freedom and they have presented enormous sacrifices.”

Referring to the “atrocities perpetrated by Indian regime and their forces”, Geelani said, “India with all its might is denying our basic right and depriving us from our culture, economic status and our religious and moral values are at stake. The India with its deceitful politics, Macavlian policy and with its 8 lakh forces personal and thousands of village defenses committees leashed a reign of terror and on the other hand some unscrupulous elements like Suhaib Qasmi and a few non-local clerics from little known Jamaat- e- Ulema- e- Hind, came out to campaign in support of BJP.”Geelani while castigating these non-local clerics, said, “They are brain washed by RSS and work on the tune of their masters.”

Lashing out at these so-called clerics and Indian sponsored NGO; s, Geelani said, “They have bartered their faith for worldly interests and following sinister designs to fulfill the agenda of BJP.”Geelani warned people against these clerics and stressed  that |we need to be alert and cautious as both  India and Israel are hell-bent to tarnish our identity and in his appeal to all freedom, sociopolitical and religious organizations urged to be vigilant and come with their stance about these so called clerics. He stressed all local committees that they should appoint and  prefer local clerics for religious obligation in local mosques over these and expressed hope that our respected religious heads of institutions and clerics would retain the glory of their seat and deliver all their endure  with highest responsibility.”
