Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today asked the government to clear the air about the plight of 39 Indians held hostage by the Islamic State in the backdrop of disturbing media reports saying they were allegedly killed in the month of June itself.Expressing grave concern over the reports quoting some secondary eyewitnesses about the hostages having allegedly been killed, Capt Amarinder said, it was too painful and traumatic for the victims’ families to come across such reports. He regretted that the government had failed to feel and understand the concern and trauma of the family members of the victims who have been kept in utter dark for the last five months. The Congress leader criticised the government’s negligence on the matter for all these months. “It is shocking that we still have to depend on the media reports for any information about the plight of the hostages while our government remains miserably ignorant”, he said.Praying that the hostages were safe and hoping that the media reports about their alleged killing were false, Capt Amarinder said, this is high time the government of India took serious initiative to rescue and bring them back.
