JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik was placed under house arrest last night at his sister’s residence in Kanipora, a spokesman of the Front said on Thursday in a statement to KNS.“Malik has been residing at his sister’s residence from last several days due to damages caused to his house at Maisuma by recent flood. Police cordoned his last night and placed him under house arrest. Police also raided the houses JKLF leaders Showkat Ahmad Bakshi, Bashir Kashmiri and activists Fayaz Ahmad etc last night,” he said while condemning the arrests, raids, blockades and restrictions on the eve of PM’s Kashmir visit.
Meanwhile, Malik in a statement termed the visit of Prime Minister Nerandar Modi as “political gimmick and an unsuccessful act to hoodwink international community.”“By spending most of his time with army and forces at Saichen, Indian PM actually proved that he under the pretext of flood victims actually intended to celebrate Diwali with his army and forces. Kashmiri Muslims have always respected the religious sentiments of every sect living in Jammu Kashmir. Our prophet (SAW) has taught us tolerance and respecting others. We respect every religion and beliefs of the people but Indian PM by politicizing a human tragedy has proved that Indian government led by Hindu extremists is actually perusing an anti- Muslim and anti Kashmiri agenda,” he said.
Malik said that Modi should know that Kashmir is a Muslim majority area and majority of its residence celebrated Eid recently in a state of grief and sorrow. “Modi and his Kashmiri stooges instead of sharing pain of flood devastated Kashmiri Muslims on Eid, clamped curfew in Lal Chowk and didn’t even uttered a word of sympathy for the flood devastated people,” he added.
