Huriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has called for one day strike on October 23 against the arrival of Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi in Kashmir. The prime minister was reported to celebrate the festival of Diwali with the flood affected people of the state.Huriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar in a tele statement to KNS stated that the amalgam has called for a one day strike and peaceful protests on October 23 against the visit of PM Modi.Akbar said that the reasons behind the strike is that GOI acted as the mute spectators amid worst ever floods in Kashmir and did nothing to mitigate the sufferings of the affected on ground.

“Also we are under the forceful occupation of India, we will not allow anyone to rub salt over our wounds,” Akbar said, adding that another reason for the strike call is the ‘communal mindset’ of PM Narendra Modi.Akbar maintained that when Modi not even felicitated Muslims on Eid, his celebrating Diwali in the Muslim majority state of Jammu and Kashmir is unacceptable.Quoting Huriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani, Akbar said that people are asked to observe complete strike on October 23- the day when Modi is visiting the state and also hold peaceful demonstrations.  (KNS)
