Terming the campaign started to tarnish the image of Chintpurni Medical College Pathankot as malicious, the chairman of institute Swaran Salaria today rubbished the allegations of thirty eight students of the first batch of MBBS and said that the management has all the up to date mandatory permissions for running the institute.

Showing all the permissions here today at a media interaction here today, Swaran Salaria appealed the protesting students to come back and join the classes. He said that of the batch of 150 students, only thirty -eight are protesting. “These students are demanding shifting to a recognized medical college despite the fact that the Chintpurni Medical College too fulfills all the conditions. Instigated by the anti-institute elements, these students and their parents, knocked the doors of Punjab and Haryana High Court for being shifted to another medical college. However their plea was not considered.

Reiterating his appeal to the students to join back the college, Salaria further clarified that the students are wasting their precious time as there is no provision of shifting them from one college to another as per the Medical Council of India (MCI) rules and regulations. He appealed the students to join the classes at institute, else due to non fulfillment of minimum lecture conditions, they may lose their semester.“As per the MCI rules, a newly introduced medical college gets permission for the first batch only, since the infrastructure has been developed to meet with the demands of first year. Gradually as the batch progresses, so does the infrastructure and subsequent permissions,” he said.

Salaria added that the colleges get permissions only after the Medical Council of India (MCI) conducts detailed inspection on set parameters. By the time the first batch enters into final year, MCI grants final permission and the degrees are recognized. The Chintpurni Medical College was started in 2011-12 and as per the yearly schedule the college has all the permissions. MCI granted the Permission for 2011-12 Batch vide letter MCI-34(41)/2011-Med/20706 dated - 30-6-11, MCI granted the Permission for 2012-13 Batch vide letter  MCI-34(41)/2012-Med/140417 dated – 25-10-12 and MCI granted the Permission for 2013-14 Batch vide letter  MCI-34(41)/2013-Med/21261 dated –14-07-13. 101 students for the current batch 2014-15 have already been recruited by DRME Punjab and attending the classes.“As the first batch will enter their final year we will have all the permissions and also they will get duly MCI recognised degree," he said.
