Huriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwiaz Umar Farooq while taking dig at the New Delhi based TV channels stated that bias approach was adopted by the media in covering the recent floods in Kashmir.“They claim that one lakh people were rescued by the government but the fact remains that youth risked their lives every day during floods to recue people including tourists during the worst hit floods,” Mirwaiz said while addressing Friday gathering at Historic grand mosque.According to the KNS correspondent, Mirwaiz issued appeal to the World Bank besides other global financial institutions to come forward with the financial aid in rehabilitating the flood hit Kashmir. Mirwaiz also stated that the estimated loss of the public property is around 80 thousand to one lakh crore besides the loss of hundreds of precious lives.

The Hurriyat (M) chief also took jibe at the state establishment, accusing it of breaking all records of misgovernance and corruption. He also questioned the decisions of state administration in allowing the construction of residential structures in the areas that are flood prone in nature.  “When nature’s fury hit the areas, the state government instead of rendering helps to the victims, left them at the mercy of the situation,” Mirwaiz said amid slogans raised by the people.Mirwaiz also issued appeal to the general masses to extend all possible help to the flood victims and make unanimous efforts for their rehabilitation. Cautioning those who are returning to their houses after water started receding at various places, Mirwaiz asked the people to strictly adhere to the health advisories issued by the health experts.  He also maintained that in case of any need and help, people can contact the Central relief committee established at Mirwaiz Manzil.
