State Secretary CPI (M) Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami has condemned the use of excessive force on a peaceful protest demonstration by J&K Non Gazatted Horticulture Employees Union in Srinagar today. Condemning the lathicharge on the protesting employees,  Tarigami said that instead of giving an ear to the employees’ problems, the government  is trying to scuttle the voice of its very own employees. “The government, horticulture department and the concerned ministry has several times not only accepted the demands of the said employees but also given assurances to fulfill them. But sadly, instead of fulfilling its promises, the government is using force and trying to silence them,” he lamented.Tarigami said the demands of the employees including removing pay anamoly, amendment to SRO 235 and reorganization of the Horticulture Department should be fulfilled. He expressed sympathies with the employees and assured them his support in their struggle for their legal rights. (CNS)
