Scores of villagers from Kangwala village in Samba district today protested against the Power Development Department (PDD) against the unscheduled power cuts and frequent tripping of the transformer which is unable to bear the load.Led by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader, Sunny Sangral, nearly 200 people from Kangwala and adjoining hamlets held protest outside the office of Executive Engineer, Madan Bhagat and demanding upgradation of 63 KV transformer to 100 KV transformer.Raising slogans against the apathetic attitude of the government and PDD, Sangral alleged that local MLA has failed to provide even basic amenities to the people due to which they are facing huge problems.Sangral later met with PDD engineer and apprised him of the problems faced by the people due to unscheduled power cuts during the sweltering summer heat.

“Transformer installed could not take the load of the area and demanded a high voltage transformer which could carry the load of the houses. The administration must look into the matter seriously and should do everything possible to solve problem of local residents,” Sangral demanded. He further said that despite revising the loads proper allocation of electricity has not been provided and despite various attempts every time the transformer is installed it fuses.PDP leader said that though more revenue is collected from  Jammu region as power tariff; during the summer season when people need more power the authorities enforce long duration power cuts in the region which is clearly injustice with the inhabitants of the Jammu and uttered that they will not tolerate such injustices anymore as now the government has crossed all limit.
