Geelani condemns crackdown, police raids on residence of Hurriyat leaders

While terming the crackdown and police raids on the residences of the Hurriyat leaders and activists on the eve of Youm-ul-Qudus” as an ‘act of state terrorism’ of the administration, chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani strongly condemned it.According to a statement issued to KNS, he said that it has now become the routine of the government to restrict the movements of the pro-freedom people on Friday and deny them to perform their religious duties. It is the interference into their religious affairs. Geelani sahib said that police have launched crackdown on the entire pro-freedom leadership particularly the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leaders and activists have become main target for them.

Geelani said that besides I being stopped today 15th time in 2014 to offer the Friday congregational prayers, the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat general secretary Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar and secretary public relations Altaf  Ahmad Shah have been put under house arrest while as acting district president Baramullah Shah Wali Mohammad have been detained in police station sopore, tehsil president Bijbehara Sabzar Ahmad, tehsil president Kupwara Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Atif Ahmad Islamabad and Idrees Jan Mir Dardpora Kupwara have also been arrested and he strongly condemned this police action. Meanwhile, Geelani also expressed his satisfaction over the state wide peaceful protest demonstration of people against the Israeli barbarism in Palestine as he had called for observing the last Friday of holy month of Ramzan as “Youm-ul-Qudus”.
