Jayalalithaa announces township, apartments

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Tuesday announced the construction of 10,000 apartments, development of 1,360 residential plots and the development of a residential township near here.Announcing this in the assembly, Jayalalithaa said the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board (TNSCB) would construct the 10,000 apartments at an outlay of Rs.852 crore in Chennai and other parts of the state.

Jayalalithaa also said 534 apartments built by TNSCB here in 1972 were in a very bad shape. At the request of the residents, new apartments will be constructed at an outlay of Rs.48.60 crore.She said 1,360 residential plots at an investment of Rs.20.53 crore will be developed in Tiruchirapalli district, around 370 km from here.Jayalalithaa also announced the development of a township in Kadambur village near Maraimalai Nagar on 222 acres.
