Punjab Godown Owners Honour Tota Singh On Becoming Agriculture Minister

The Punjab Godown Owners today expressed their gratitude to newly inducted Punjab Agriculture Minister Tota Singh for earnestly taking up their grievances and making efforts to solve them. Sandeep Gilhotra, President of Godown Owners Association extending thanks towards the Agriculture Minister for making efforts to resolve the long pending grievances of association said the godown owners were suffering dur to no increase of rent for 10 years and imposition of service tax by Government of India to the owners whereas the owners were not using any service and were facing harassment by the Service Tax department. The association thanked Tota Singh for pursuing their issues with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.Mr. Gilhotra said that they were happy that the rent has been now settled on the Haryana pattern that is 17 PMT and Service Tax would be reimbursed by Punjab State Warehousing Corporation.  He said that the Punjab Government under able leadership of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has always stood for the cause of Godown Owners and hoped that the owners would not have to suffer because the Punjab Government has already sorted out most of their grievances.

The Minister has also assured them that in future the godown owners would get share in increased proportional rent by the FCI to the State Warehousing Corporation. The owners would not have to run from pillar to post for their grievances in future. The corporation would issue the rent before the 15th of every month. Prominent amongst those, who were present on the occasion included S.S. Sodhi, Vice President andDevi Dayal, General Secretary of association.
